Brief Description

Establishment: 1983

The Marathi department has been functioning since the establishment of the college. Prof. Dr. A. D. Kulkarni was the first head of this department. After that Prof. Dr. Shobhana Dingare became the head of this department. Currently Dr. Jaykumar Chandanshive is working as a HoD. Various activities are implemented for the students through the department. Many students who have graduated in Marathi are working in various fields.

To create interest in Marathi literature, art and culture among the students.

Activities

Year 2017-18

On 28 th Sept.2017, Marathi Literature Club was inaugurated by well-known Play- writer Dr.Arun Mirajkar. Also ‘Marathi Play writing special Edition’ wall-paper was also inaugurated. On this occasion Principal Raju Zadbuke was present.
On behalf of Marathi Department, on 13-10-2017, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s birthday was celebrated as the; Reading Motivation Day.’
On 16 th February 2018 III rd Year Marathi Department has organised a Study-Tour and visited Shivaji University, Kolhapur, V. S. Khandekar Bhavan and Kaneri Math. These students also interviewed Senior Play Critic Himanshu Smarth.
On 27 th February; Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din’ was celebrated by the Marathi Department. Also Wall paper with subject’ Ancient Marathi Literature Special Edition’ was inaugurated by popular Play- Writer Shri Ashok Raste Sir.

Year 2018-19

On 15 th October 2018 on the occasion of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s birthday, Marathi Department had organised Reading Motivation Day.’
On 12 th February 2019, the Marathi Department had presented wall-paper on the subject ‘Literature Written by Women’. On this occasion Mr. Arvind Marathe was present as a chief guest.
On 27 February ‘Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din’ was celebrated by the Marathi Department. On this occasion Shri Sampat Kadam (Sangli) was present as a chief guest.

Year 2019-20

Year 2020-21

On 27 th February 2021, Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din was celebrated by the Marathi Department. On this occasion, Wall Paper designed by Marathi Department was inaugurated by The New Miraj Education Society’s Secretary Shri Raju Zadbuke. Also, Marathi Department & Dept, of Library jointly organised Display of Books/Books Exhibition in the library.
On 5 th March 2021, Shivaji University Marathi Shikshak Sangh and Marathi Department of Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Miraj did a mutual agreement. On this occasion ‘SHIVAM’ head Prof. Dr. Prakash Dukale, Secretary Prof. Dr. Ramesh Salunkhe, Vice-Principal Dr. Sharwari Kulkarni and Prof. Dr. Padmalkar were present.
On 16 th March 2021, Marathi Department and Cultural Department jointly organised a programme ‘Mazya Kaveteche Anand Yatra’ by Pravin Davane, The Programme was carried out in chief presence of Shri Vinayak Gokhale (Vice- President), The New Miraj Education Society, Miraj. Also, Secretary Shri. Raju Zadbuke & Dr. Sharwari Kulkarni were Present.

Year 2021-22 In the academic year 2020-21, Marathi Department had conducted following programmes.

Marathi Department had organised a Speech on the subject ‘In Search of Ideas’. Prof. Dr. Priti Shinde-Patil from Warana Nagar delivered the speech. On this occasion, Vice-Principal Dr. Sharwari Kulkarni, Prof. Dr. Madhuri Deshmukh, Prof. Dr. Sunita Mali, Professors and students were present. The programme chief was Secretary Shri Raju Zadbuke.
On 24-1-2022, Shivaji Universtiy Marathi Teachers Association and Kanya Mahavidyalaya Marathi Dept. had organised Two-day programme. On the first day, ‘Kavyavachan’ programme was held. This programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Bhrat Jadhav, -Member ‘SHIVAM’ Kolhapur.
On 25-1-2022, on the subject ‘Future of Marathi Language’, a Speech was delivered by Dr. Girish More (Rajarshi Shahu College, Rukadi). On this occasion Dr. Sarjerao Pamakar was present.
On 27 th Feb.2022 on the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din, a speech was organised by Sandip Rane, on the subject,’Competative Exams and Marathi.
On 20-3-2022, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Miraj under the auspices of Lead College and Marathi Dept. had organised a work shop on the subject ‘Creative Writing’. In the first session Prof. Dr. Hithanshu Smarth gave a speech on subjects related to ‘Creative Writing’.
On 4 th April 2022. According to the joint venture ( or collaboration) of Willingdon college and Kanya Mahavidyalaya Miraj, a work-shop was held on the ‘NET-SET’ and Competitive Exams.
