Brief Description

Establishment: 1983

Late Prof. Shubhada Patil was the first head of the Hindi Department. At present Prof. Mansi Shirgaonkar is working as the head. Since its establishment, the Hindi Department has maintained the tradition of excellent results. Many students have received meritorious scholarships from Shivaji University. Students are prepared to look for job opportunities through translation and functional Hindi courses. Various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are carried out by the department for the holistic development of the students.

Vision

The vision of the department is to impact knowledge of national language Hindi, it’s literature and functional Hindi to non-Hindi speaking students.

Goals / Objectives

To develop sensitivity and language skills in students.
To build research vision in Hindi language and literature.
To familiarize with the increasing use of Hindi in mass communication and to explore employment opportunities.
To inculcate interest among students in the study of Hindi Literature, along with academic excellence.
To introduce various forms and features of Hindi language.

Achievements

The two-day National Conference and Maharashtra Hindi Parishad’s 21 st Adhivashan was successfully organized - 23 rd & 24 th Decemeber, 2013.
The students have achieved success in University Level Magazine Competition.
Many students have come in the merit list of Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
The faculty of the department has obtained Ph.D. and many of their research papers have been published.
The students have achieved success by participating in various competitions.

Activities

Year 2017-18

Workshop was organized on 22/7/2017. Mr. Dhanajay Joshi (Radio Artist) took two sessions on Radio Announcer.
Workshop was organized on 2/8/2017. Mr Dhiraj Palse (a well-known stage artist) took two sessions on Natak aur abhinay.
Hindi Day was celebrated on 14/9/2017. The Chief Guest was Mrs. Vandana Sable.She gave lecture on ‘The importance and uses of Hindi Bhasha’ and unveiled the Wall Paper on the topic ‘Bhaktikaal ke Pratinidhi Kavi’.
Arranged and designed a three months course named ANUVAD for B.A Part 3.

Year 2018-19

Workshop was organized on 14/7/2018. Mr Dhiraj Palase took two sessions on the topic Natak aur Samvad.
Took Essay Competition on 13/9/2018.The topic was Hindi Jan-Jan KI Bhasha.
Celebrated Hindi Day on 14/9/2018. Dr. Balwant Jeurkar from Hindi Department, Willingdon College Sangli gave a lecture on Anuvad Ke Shetra mai Hindi.
Wall Paper was unveiled on Women’s Day Prepared by the students of B.A Part 3. The topic was Mahila Sashktikaran: Savidhanik Adhikar.
